In 2005, the previously unknown singer rose to international acclaim when his debut single Serious Times hit the top of the local and overseas reggae charts, and defeated even Junior Gongs Top Ten Billboard hit Welcome to Jamrock, to be declared Jamaicas Most Important Song of 2005. Nominated for Best New Entertainer at the 2006 International Reggae and World Music Awards, the twenty-three year old velvet-voiced singer has been dominating the charts with a slew of hit singles including Is There a Place, Beautiful Lady, and the chart-topping ballad Mama, Dont Cry

 


Werrason

He was singing for the Protestant church of Cebezo Kinshasa at the age of 12. At the same time, he became a martial art champion.

At the beginning of the 80’s, Werrason was part of the innovative musical band “Wenge Musica 4X4 Tout Terrain Bon Chic Bon Genre”. The group split in 1997 [1], with J.B. Mpiana leading "Wenge Musica BCBG" [2]. The next year Werrason created a new band “ Wenge Musica Maison Mere (WMMM)”. He launches the album “Force d’Intervention Rapide”. He toured throughout Europe, Africa, the USA, and Canada. His 1999 album “Solola Bien” was rewarded with the Golden Record in France [3].

 


Tabou Combo

T Vice

The musical group was formed in 1991 by brothers Roberto and Reynaldo Martino, sons of renowned Haitian guitarist Robert Martino of the classic Top Vice band, T-Vice's predecessor. Longtime friends James Cardozo and Gerald Kebreau were soon part of the group thus completing the quartet as they were originally known to be. Djakout Mizik

Djakout Mizik is a popular Haitian Compas band. On New year's eve on MTV in 2007, they performed with Wyclef Jean. This was their first appearance on an American network television. In February 2008, they were crowned the best carnival band in Haiti for their energetic performance of Kalòt Marasa (two slaps). Barikad Crew

 

Barikad Crew is a hip-hop group straight out of Bas Peu d’Chose (BPC), a neighborhood in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. The group was founded in 2002 when the members who were all in different groups living in the same neighborhood decided to join forces and overcome the barikad (obstacles) placed in front of them during their careers as MC’s. Their debut album “Goumen Pou Sa W Kwè” (Fight for what you believe) was released in November 2007 to record sales. At the time of the album release, the group members were: Bricks, Brital, Dade (R.I.P.), Deja-voo (R.I.P.), Fantom, Izolan, Kondagana, Marco, Master Sun, Papa K-tafalk (R.I.P.), YOUNG CLIFF (R.I.P.).
